Diary (2 v.) of Reed's mission (April 1857-March 1859) as Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Emperor of China, together with correspondence from British and French officials and others in the Orient, letters to Reed's wife, telegrams, notes, clippings, maps, prints, and printed matter. The diary is supplemented by a transcript (typewritten, 45 leaves) concerning the voyage and service in China.
